Shive-Hattery provided design services for what began as a heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) retrofit of 116,000 square feet at the junior high school. The project was initially geared toward infrastructure upgrades including plumbing, HVAC and lighting. As the project progressed, interior finishes were upgraded throughout. Restrooms were renovated to be handicap accessible; a new commercial kitchen and serving area were added with capacity to serve over 1,500 students; doors, windows and roofing were upgraded for improved security and thermal control and a new entry court was designed to eliminate drainage problems while creating an aesthetically pleasing main entrance.
