Ames Fire Station No.3

Located in Ames, IA

Back to projects

The City of Ames was in need of a new fire station on the city's south side. Shive-Hattery was hired to develop a master plan that included developing preliminary building space program/building size, selection of three potential build sites, refining one option and finalizing site selection and providing a computer rendering of the recommended option.

The new station was built to accommodate five resident fire fighters, administration support, general recreational facilities, gear storage and emergency vehicle apparatus bays. New technology was implemented using state-of-the-art communications equipment and under floor radiant heat systems.
The new state-of-the-art fire station is well equipped and perfectly located to serve the needs of the south side of Ames. The project came in under budget and one month ahead of schedule.

This project received the Grand Award in Masonry Institute of Iowa's 2004 Architectural Design.
