In the heart of North Liberty, Centennial Park Event Complex boasts 40 acres of future outdoor gatherings. A new regional attraction for endeavors such as the annual Blues & BBQ event among others, the park has a mix of structured play and relaxing recreation. The new 11,000 SF event center can host large events, and the open-air pavilion will be a versatile structure to host concerts, sports, and more. But we’re not done yet.

Shive-Hattery deconstructed the City of North Liberty’s master plan into multiple tangible phases back in 2022 – further developing the City’s vision for bringing life to this space. The scope was expanded from an original 2012 master plan to further align with North Liberty’s new goals for the future, allowing for the funding and implementation to roll out over time.

Key goals included a connection to nature, inclusivity, support of year-round events, water quality and creating a regional attraction for the growing city. So far, the area features:

• 175-stall permeable paver parking lot,
• satellite parking stalls,
• 10 foot-wide shared-use loop path,
• 1,200-foot long bioswale,
• a retention pond,
• and landscaping, lighting, and power hookups.

To ensure year-round value, the new Centennial Center promotes North Liberty’s vision for elevated architecture and modern amenities. This event complex will also include a great lawn, as well as a stage to host concerts and more. Throughout the exterior spaces, sidewalks and a plaza provide connectivity between activity zones, and a few park shelters add scattered gathering spaces to the site.

Future phases will include:

• a versatile open-air pavilion structure with flexible programming,
• premier 5,000 SF splash pad for kids of all ages,
• and an honor garden overlooking the pond with open air shelter.

Inspired design, natural elements, and a sense of community unfold for the City of North Liberty with the continued construction of Centennial Park’s Event Complex.
