Shive-Hattery has an immediate opening in our Cedar Rapids IA office for an Design Professional with 2+ years of professional architectural experience; not licensed, but working toward a license.

Under the direction of the Studio Leader this position performs a variety of duties associated with design expertise primarily on industrial ( Industrial Food + Pharmaceutical + Manufacturing ) projects and related services, to assist in achieving desired client satisfaction, and business results.  Primary focus: Industrial. Secondary: Commercial, Educational, Healthcare, Public Buildings.  

Participate and contribute to design discussions, idea generation, collaboration, and design work in drawing, model and 3D image formats. 

  • Production and coordination of technical documents under the direction of a licensed design professional. 
  • Work on projects in the Food, Pharmaceutical and Manufacturing markets. 
  • Creation of images which convey design solutions. 
  • Design and detailing in Revit. 
  • Attend project and client meetings with design professionals. 
  • Import/export within Revit other modeling software (AutoCAD/Navisworks, etc.) and 3D scanning technology. 
  • Travel to project sites. 
  • Experience a holistic, collaborative culture with our in-house team of architects, interior designers, landscape architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, civil engineers, etc.. which leads to a seamless, smooth process for our clients.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited professional degree program. 
  • Experience:  Early career Design Professional with 2+ years of experience
  • License/Certification: Not licensed, but working toward a license through NCARB. 
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit is required.  
  • Basic knowledge of design of architectural systems, construction documentation, and associated technology. 
  • Demonstrates aptitude in critical, creative thinking associated with design and the design process. 
  • Ability to produce construction documents, including 3D model generation and detailing. 
  • Motivated and creative professional. 
  • Focused with great attention to detail. 
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing work. 
  • Willing to collaborate with other team members and have good interpersonal skills. 
  • US Citizen, as required to support our aerospace clients.
