Folded Flags Wins 2021 Coolness Sign Design Competition Potpourri Category
Members and endorsed vendors voted on the most innovative electrical signs produced during the past 12 months.
The World Sign Associates (WSA) announced The Veterans Parkway Folded Flags installation as the winner of the 2021 WSA Coolness Sign Design Competition in the Potpourri category.
Shive-Hattery partnered with the City of West Des Moines and Nagle Signs Inc. to create The Folded Flags art installation on Veteran’s Parkway, enhancing the roadway and honoring the nation’s veterans.
Spread out across open greenspace, each of the 15 flags is 15 feet tall to achieve an appropriate visual scale. Flags were chosen as a symbol recognized among all military branches; they’re designed to withstand all four seasons.
The Folded Flags art installation encourages passersby to pause and reflect on the sacrifices of service members. It also continues the city’s focus on beautification and instills a sense of community pride.
