Overview

Helix Design Group, a division of Shive-Hattery is seeking an Architectural Project Manager with a background in the A/E/C industry and a passion for managing multi-discipline projects. We are looking for a teammate in our Tacoma WA office with a strong desire to collaboratively unite the Client, Designer and Contractor to deliver our client’s desired outcomes.  

Primarily assigned complex projects, but may also be assigned total programs from time-to-time. Program management typically requires accountability for a related series of projects executed over a period that is designed to accomplish broad goals for the client. Continually increases knowledge, skills, and ability in the Project Management profession through education, training and experience – primarily in advanced and leading-edge project management concepts. Expected to have PMI’s PMP certification or have a plan to obtain certification within one year of achieving Project Manager 4 status.

  • Actively participate and contribute to design and project management through engaging in design discussions, generating ideas, collaborating, and working on drawings, models, and 3D imaging formats.   
  • As a licensed design professional, you will direct non-licensed and other professionals assigned to design, produce, and coordinate the design process and technical documents. You will create graphical images and perform design and detailing tasks in Revit. 
  • You will attend project and client meetings with design professionals to explore business development opportunities and support projects under contract.

Requirements

  • For a senior-level position, candidates should possess at least 10 to 15+ years of experience in architecture. Successful applicants must complete have completed an accredited professional degree program with either a bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, or equivalent education and experience.  
  • Expected to have PMI’s PMP certification or have a plan to obtain certification within one year of achieving Project Manager 4 status. 
  • The role involves managing and supervising project teams comprising architects, engineers, and designers for medium to large projects with a high degree of focus on federal, DOD and civic projects. Demonstrating a high degree of critical and creative thinking related to design processes is essential.  
  • A thorough understanding of architectural specifications, local, state and federal building codes, life safety codes, and current ADA requirements is required.  
  • Knowledge of programming, planning, and building performance is advantageous. Qualifications should align with mid to senior-level experience, showcasing motivation and creativity in professional endeavors.  
  • Candidates should be adept at designing with a strong understanding of building systems and have experience in designing projects of varying scale and complexity within the federal and civic sectors.  
  • As a self-motivated individual, the candidate excels in independent problem-solving and possesses excellent communication skills.  
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, SpecLink, and Microsoft Office is necessary. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Google SketchUp and the Adobe Suite is beneficial.
