Shive-Hattery’s Quad Cities (Bettendorf IA) office has an immediate opening for a FT Design Professional – Civil with up to five (5) years experience.

  • Assist more Senior Water/Wastewater Engineers with entry level engineering tasks
  • Assist with engineering facility plans, master planning reports, specifications, and design drawings for water and wastewater projects in a wide variety of public and private projects in the industrial, government market sectors
  • Prepare facility plans, preliminary engineering reports, permit applications, AutoCAD drawings, technical specifications, water modeling, and wastewater facility modeling, 
  • Set up and monitor testing equipment
  • Assist with the design of water and wastewater treatment plants, treatment equipment comparisons, water well design, water distribution system design
  • Assist with performing onsite construction administration and construction observation services including reporting and monitoring contractor’s compliance with contract documents

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering school
  • Experience: Up to 5 years; Internships/summer experience in engineering or construction a plus
  • License/Certification: Have passed or are scheduled to take Fundamentals Of Engineering (FE) exam to obtain official Engineer Intern (EI) designation by the State of Iowa/Illinois 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to read and understand construction engineering plans and drawings, including sheet references and layering
  • Demonstrated ability to be service-oriented to existing and potential clients
  • Communicate effectively, written and orally
  • Collaborate with other Engineers on multi-discipline teams
  • Manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organization and prioritization with attention to detail
  • Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.
  • Climb ladders and work off elevated platforms and open grating, and wear personal safety equipment required for specific clients and sites.
  • Pass drug screening tests and background screening, which are both required for some client sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
