Northwest Fire District Station No. 30 was built to replace the existing Station No. 30. The fire district purchased an adjacent 0.86 acres on which the new station was built, and then combined the two properties. The entire site was designed in a campus-type setting to allow combined use by the District. The complex is enclosed with security walls and an electrically operated gate to provide for public and firefighter safety. The existing fire station remained in full operation during the construction phase of the project. The original fire station is currently being remodeled as a support facility.

The new station supports nine full time firefighters with separate dorm rooms, single user restrooms and a large physical training room. There are three double-deep apparatus bays. There are also separate decontamination, laundry and medical storage areas. Large skylights and windows provide ample daylight in the apparatus bays for firefighter safety. The station includes a turnout storage room large enough for dual sets of turnouts for each firefighter. The walls are constructed of aerated concrete block because of its thermal mass and high thermal resistance. Extra large low-e windows and thermally-efficient skylights flood the building with natural light without letting in heat.
